Jang Design Art is pleased to present 《Charader: Deliverer》, a solo exhibition of Cha Min-young, from November 16th (Wed) to December 10th (Sat). The title of the exhibition 《Charader: The Deliverer》 is related to the charade technique of conveying ideas and images without using language in the early silent film era, and the artist describes himself as 《Charader: The Deliverer》. , explores the expansion of the sense of place in modern society from a multifaceted perspective, and visualizes and delivers it through the artist's own non-verbal means through installation and video media.
The sense of place that the artist thinks includes the entire virtual space beyond the space as a physical location, and means all the relationships between the objects that are manifested along with it. It says that humans are always under the control of place, that place is the fundamental center of human existence, and that place encompasses human experiences, meanings, and the entire temporal and spatial environment. Accordingly, a surrealistic space is newly constructed in the everyday object of a travel bag to induce a sense of liberation in the place.
<Suitcase Chain> is a work that focuses on the 'doer', which is also the hidden meaning of the exhibition title 'Shrader', and the long connected bags represent the connection between actors. The actor that the artist thinks is not just a human individual, but encompasses everything such as non-human beings and nature, and expresses that everything is not an independent entity, but is connected to each other and coexists as an actor. The sound of bees heard in the exhibition hall symbolizes invisible fear in the present age. This fear means the fear of the fact that the movements of another unknown actor and the influence of change are interconnected and that we cannot control them.
The <Horizon> series creates a new scene by combining unexpected events and situations, such as environmental conditions brought about by unpredictable and coincidental events, while based on reality. Through some imaginative bizarre phenomenon of nature that does not exist in reality, it brings out the unknown anxiety and fear deeply embedded in modern people to the surface of their consciousness and provides an opportunity to contemplate it. By doing so, it provides a momentary sense of liberation that awakens and awakens oneself from within.
<Splitting Site> symbolically expresses the appearance and meaning of a place that changes with the times through a cut form, and <Melting Frame> metaphorically shows the environmental changes of the earth due to an accelerating technology society. In addition, the <Inter Object> series are places created for the convenience of life, which exist somewhere in reality but express the neglected places of the city that we pass by without paying attention, which summons our emotions and memories and Brings out nostalgia.
By showing both the real and the virtual world at the same time, this exhibition evokes the boundary between reality and the unconscious, and grants virtual freedom to the audience while facing another reality and surreal.
Jean Designart is delighted to present Cha Minyoung's solo exhibition "Charader” from November 16 to December 10. The exhibition's title, "Charader" alludes to itself as "Charade" in the early days of silent film and uses installation and video to represent and convey it as a nonverbal means of the artist.Cha Minyoung figuratively conveys exploration of the growth of the Placeness of contemporary society using installation and video media.
The place that the artist thinks of means a virtual space beyond a physical space, along with all relationships between individuals. CHA said that places are the essential center of human existence and that they encompass all human experience, meaning, and the space-time environment. travel bags provide a feeling of liberation from the location by newly constructing a surreal space in everyday objects.
Suitcase Chain is an artwork that emphasizes "activity," which is also a subtext of the exhibition's name, "Charader." A lengthy bag with connections denotes a relationship between people. The artist believes that everything, including tangible and non-tangible is a part of us. Everything conveys our interconnectedness and ability to coexist.
The <Horizon> series is based on reality, but it is also unexpected, such as unpredictable, accidental environmental conditions events or situations combine to create a new scene. It is a hypothetical natural phenomenon that doesn't exist. The imagined weirdness of nature that doesn't exist puts people's deep-seated dread and panic to the forefront of their minds.
<Splitting Site> symbolically expresses the appearance and meaning of places that change with the times through cut forms. <Melting Frame> metaphorically shows changes in the Earth's environment due to a technology-accelerated society. <Inter Object> series is also designed for ease of use, expressing the detached urban landscapes that exist somewhere in reality but that we pass by without noticing. It brings up our emotions, memories, and even memories that are deeply buried in our unconscious. This exhibition evokes the boundary between reality and unconsciousness by simultaneously showing the world created by reality and virtualization and gives the audience virtual freedom while facing another reality.
