《Talk Play Love》

At Jang Design Art, Hyunwook Son's solo exhibition <Talk Play Love> will be held from December 7th to January 22nd, 2022. Son Hyeon-wook adds pleasure to everyday materials and expresses the shape of an animal in a sculpture called iron, the relationship between animals and iron, the combination of two-dimensional and three-dimensional, and finally the coexistence of form and abstraction, the mutuality of open and closed space. It has been explored from various perspectives. He wanted to communicate with the public through his works, and to give pleasure to the public through this.  “There is no more powerful force that a work can have than the affinity with the audience. For that purpose, my work does not have to be grandiose or grandiose, and the public's pleasure is sufficient. That is the reason and strength of my sculpture.” emphasizes that He independently explores the everyday and universal subject of animals through the material of iron and interprets it as a simplified and modern work through art language, showing a visual language that his contemporaries can relate to and familiar with. This means exploring the gap between abstraction and figuration, emptying the form and challenging contemporary art.

In this exhibition, plane and sculpture work harmoniously to describe his world of work logically and persuasively, allowing viewers to enjoy it. The artist's keen observation ability, which captures and combines everyday and universal moments, actions, and characteristics, has become the center of the creation of his works. In this way, his work is lively and interesting by composing the most everyday appearances of animals in various sizes, shapes, and colors. The images of animals that can be encountered on a daily basis, such as dogs, cats, and birds, are realized through the artist's formative language system, and through this, ordinary actions of animals are reborn as art. It also adds originality by applying bright colors reminiscent of pleasure. It is not simply a figure of familiar animals. By considering the physical spatiality, it pleasantly embodies the coolness and grandeur, the characteristics of the material of iron, and simultaneously expresses the ambivalence of plane and three-dimensionality in open and closed spaces, revealing the pleasure of the point of view more dramatically.

Hyunwook Son provides the audience with an opportunity to experience a different world with new energy formed from the correlation between lines and colors, scale and movement, and objects and materials, and this minimalistic approach allows them to reconsider their daily lives.
